Admission Procedures and Criteria

Admissions to Ubley C of E Primary School are administered by Bath and North East Somerset Council. Any application for a school place must be made to the Local Authority in which you live even if you want a place at a school situated in a different Local Authority area.  Bath and North East Somerset admissions services can provide advice about schools. information about your right of appeal if the school you prefer is full, or information about home to school transport.

To talk to someone about school admissions call 01225 394312 or email:

admissions_transport@bathnes.gov.uk

Please click here to open the Primary Admissions Booklet 2016/17 from the Local Authority which contains full details of how to apply for a school place and the admissions criteria for all primary schools in this area.

Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education, Health and Care Plan [EHC] are dealt with through the SEN Code of Practice and their placement is determined through the statutory assessment process or an annual review of their statement.  If a particular school is named on an EHC this will take priority over the Admissions Criteria.

Appeals

If you are refused a place at your preferred school, you have the right under the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Section 94) as amended by the Education Act 2002, to appeal against the decision.  It is your opportunity to present your reasons for preferring a particular school to an independent panel who will decide whether your reasons are strong enough to overturn the decision of the Local Authority.

To talk to someone about Admission Appeals, contact the B&NES School Appeals Officer on 01225 394416.
