Assessment and Pupil Progress at Ubley Primary School

As you may be aware, when Michael Gove was Secretary of State for Education, he brought in two fundamental changes to the structure of education in England: a new National Curriculum with effect from September 2014 and the removal of levels (e.g. 2C, 4A etc.) as a method for assessing attainment and progress in the National Curriculum.

This new curriculum is part of the government’s initiative to improve the level of academic attainment of young people, and in many areas of the curriculum the standard of knowledge, skills and understanding has been significantly raised. Additionally the new curriculum has a greater focus on broadening children’s learning and ensuring they are ‘secure’ in their new skills.
