Applying for a Reception place in September

New Reception year admissions to Ubley C of E Primary School are administered by Bath and North East Somerset Council. Any application for a school place must be made to the Local Authority in which you live even if you want a place at a school situated in a different Local Authority area.  Bath and North East Somerset admissions services can provide advice about schools. information about your right of appeal if the school you prefer is full, or information about home to school transport.

For more information around new starters in Reception - please see the separate tab under choose us, directly below the admissions tab. This also includes a link to our induction booklet for Ubley school new starters.

Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education, Health and Care Plan [EHC] are dealt with through the SEN Code of Practice and their placement is determined through the statutory assessment process or an annual review of their statement.  If a particular school is named on an EHC this will take priority over the Admissions Criteria.

In year admissions for all year groups

A request for any other place at our school must be made using an in year application form.  Please click here to access this form. As we have academy status and are a member of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership Multi Academy Trust, we are our own admissions authority.  All in year applications must therefore be returned directly to our school.

Our published admissions PAN for each year group is 15 pupils. The school will review the year group numbers three times per year to ensure numbers are manageable in our mixed year classes.  No year groups will be below 15 pupils.  There will be no further intake into Years 3 or 4 at the present time.

If you are refused a place at our school, you have the right under the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998 (Section 94) as amended by the Education Act 2002, to appeal against the decision.  It is your opportunity to present your reasons for preferring our school to an independent panel who will decide whether your reasons are strong enough to overturn the decision of the Local Governing Body.

Please contact the school if you wish to make an appeal and we will guide you through the process.

We welcome prospective parents to come and look around at any time. Please contact  Mrs Tranter in the School Office (01761 462654 or email to make an appointment, we would be delighted to show you our school.
