Forest School

Since September 2011 children have enjoyed a Forest School experience with our very own Forest School Leader, Mrs Sarah Lynett, a very experienced teaching assistant who works across the school.  Mrs Lynett undertook the training at Bridgwater College and gained a BTEC level 3 Forest School Leaders award.

Forest School offers a unique approach to teaching using the outdoors as a learning environment.  It's main aim is to promote self-confidence, motivation and awareness as well as good communication, social and emotional skills.  The positivity felt by the children at Forest School is felt back within the classroom setting.  Along the way technical skills (often using tools) and a greater understanding of our natural environment are developed too.

Each year group enjoys Forest School for a 6 week period at some point during the year regardless of the weather!  It is not unusual to spot some muddy faces on their return from the woodland!

Sessions so far have included, mud and mush painting, making a house for a mouse, making Christmas wreaths, perfume, natural weaving, journey sticks and dragon hunting!
